These are the most basic creatures we have, if we left anything out please feel free to send me a PM with your suggestion. We encourage your input.
Vampires
The most basic definition for vampires is a blood drinking undead creature of the night. The most common traits are that they have fangs, detest sunlight and can be hurt by wood or holy objects. Because there are so many different versions of vampires please try and give some detail in your character bio as to what path your following. Common changes are vampires who age, maybe even eventually die a normal death (i.e. not immortal just extended life span), those who can withstand sunlight and have no problems with holy objects.
Demons
The definition for demons is a little bit more difficult. Some people define them as any creature that is not human, others say they are henchmen of the devil. Demons can be immortal or just very resilient. Their powers can be a little bit more varied depending on what type of demon they are. Some demons have claws and fangs and crave the taste of blood or flesh but this is not true for all. Some demons also have magical powers other just rely on brute strength and their physical attributes. Many demons can look normal on the outside but be different on the inside. This is one character you can really get creative with, the options are almost limitless.
Angels
We all know the basics for this one, wings and a halo. This does not have to be so, if you choose you do not need wings to fly. Some see Angels as the ultimate good, friends of God, if you believe in that sort of thing, guardians of man. Just because you're an angel does not mean you are pure of heart. Ever hear of Lucifer? Exactly! Their powers are also up for debate, they can even be former humans turned angel.
Ghost-Wraiths
A ghost is a soul or spirit of something that was once living. Most often they have the power to move things with their energy and can be seen only by those of Otherworld's, not humans unless they have the gift of sight. Wraiths are the ghosts of tortured souls or someone who died a gruesome and traumatic death. They are able to inhabit bodies of the dead. More powerful Wraiths can inhabit the living or invade dreams to manipulate and create illusions. If they inhabit a body they are able to use the powers or skills of that body i.e. the body of a demon or vampire.
Shapeshifter
Normally a shapeshifter is someone who turns from human to some sort of creature. The most common is a wolf. This definition has changed constantly to include other creatures including everything from tigers to swans to reptiles to even mythical ones such as mermaids and so on and so forth. Recently someone has taken that definition even further and given the true meaning to shape shifter by changing into anything you can imagine. Immortality and extended lifespans are generally associated with such but is not always so. Shifters can also have powers other than the basic animal characteristics of their creature. (i.e. teeth and claws like a wolf). Shapeshifter is the general term but if you only shift to one type of something it is best to classify yourself as such. Here are some examples:Werewolf, Weretiger, so on and so forth.
Fae
Fae can be considered a very broad term for any creature with magical powers. Faeries, pixies, trolls, etc. It can also be restricted to little winged creatures who are cruel to most people. Some types of Fae are sectioned into Seelie and Unseelie also known as Sidhe. Most often immortal unless mixed with human blood then the lifespan is not infinite but lengthened a bit. They can either possess powers like glamour and seduction or can use totems and magic to affect others. A common trait of the Fae is an inability to lie but that doesn't mean they don't skirt around the truth.
Witches
Most often classified as humans with supernatural powers. Their life spans are that of the average human, maybe a bit extra but not by much, half a century or so. Their powers are usually tied to the earth and/or elements. Passed along from their ancestors. They can also be just a normal human who recites spells and incantations but has no real inner power to call upon without the aid of words or tools. There is also the possibility of a Sorceress or witch who has collected powers over time from other creatures to lengthen life and increase magic ability.
**We are trying for creativity and freedom of choice here which is why we give you the choice of picking what powers your character has. We cannot tell you what your powers and limitations are for a character you created which is why we stress that you think everything through before making a decision and posting. What we can do is help make suggestions if you are stuck or confused.
